Who We Are
Working to reduce reentry barriers, the Jacksonville Onslow Welcome Home Council provides crucial support to formerly incarcerated individuals. This support includes case management, community services connections, and establishing a coordinated local network of agencies and advocates.
Our Mission
To promote community safety by assisting justice-involved individuals to reintegrate into society by connecting supportive services and needed resources through the collaboration of government, nonprofit organizations, private entities, and volunteers to reduce recidivism.
How do reentry programs support job, housing, and legal needs?
-
They help reduce recidivism. By offering stability - like housing, job training, and legal guidance - these programs lower the chances of someone returning to prison.
-
They create real job opportunities. Reentry programs connect people to meaningful work, which builds financial independence and restores a sense of purpose.
-
They support housing stability. Finding safe, reliable housing is one of the biggest challenges after prison. Reentry support helps remove those barriers.
-
They offer legal help when it's needed most. Whether it's clearing records, restoring ID, or navigating custody, legal services make rebuilding possible.
-
They foster community reintegration: These programs encourage individuals to rebuild relationships and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
-
They open doors to education. From GEDs to trade certifications, reentry programs provide individuals with the tools to grow and succeed in the long term.
