United Way works to ensure that critical health and human services are available to people in our community through Community Investment Grants to local Partner agencies. Below shows exactly what this kind of partnership has done for Onslow County residents in the past year.
EDUCATION
- 3,105 children participated in high-quality youth enrichment programs to develop character and learn life skills
- 1,606 children were engaged in afterschool and summer programs in a safe, positive environment rather than going home alone
- 1,245 parents were provided the evidence-based skills and resources to become effective parents
HEALTH
- 234 children who were sexually and/or physically assaulted received state-of-the-art evaluation and supportive care, so they never have to relive their trauma
- 24,400 meals were served to economically disadvantaged, elderly, disabled, or homeless people who would have otherwise gone without
- 37,768 military personnel were able to connect with loved ones or felt cared for through homecoming/ deployment services and emergency communication
INCOME
- 135 citizens in crisis were provided one-time financial assistance to avoid losing utility service or becoming homeless
- 470 parents were provided respite through free, drop-in child care
- 155 clients received assistance for terminal care or funeral costs
