iServe Volunteer Fair Monday, Jan. 21
Over 20 Onslow County volunteer seeking agencies will be ready to meet the public and prospective volunteers at the first annual iServe Volunteer Fair.
Presented by Volunteer Onslow, United Way of Onslow County, and the City of Jacksonville, iServe is a free event open to all ages, which seeks to allow the public an opportunity to connect with local volunteer groups and discover a cause they can become passionate about.
Scheduled for Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, a day already dedicated to the ideals of service to the community, the Fair hopes to draw those who traditionally may have other commitments during the usual work week. From one-time volunteer needs to long-term volunteer commitments, the Fair will connect those simply looking to give back to an opportunity that fits their schedule.
Volunteer Onslow facilitated over 8800 volunteer hours, saving local nonprofits the equivalent of $165,017 in “sweat equity” last year.
The iServe Volunteer Fair will be held Monday, January 21from 9AM-2PM at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center. The event is open to the public and free of charge, though attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the CHEW Backpack Program, which provides meals to children who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
